ACH Mission
Ateiku Christian Hospital opened its doors in September 2011. The first week it opened, the staff served more than 2,000 clients some of whom had never been to a hospital and many who were seriously ill but had been staying at home due to the difficulty of accessing affordable healthcare while living in rural Ghana. Prior to the construction of the hospital, medical care in Ateiku was virtually nonexistent. The dream of a hospital in Ateiku was born in the heart of Lawrence Oduro in the aftermath of a tragic event he observed during one of his trips to a remote rural village. He witnessed the passing of a mother and her unborn child as she was being carried on a makeshift “door like” wooden stretcher on foot from one village to the nearest clinic which was still over two hours walk. The mother and the child did not make this journey. Unfortunately, the high infant mortality rate in Ghana has claimed too many innocent lives.
In addition, diseases such as Cholera, malaria fever, typhoid fever, TB, tetanus, hepatitis B, high-blood pressure, diabetes and more recently Covid-19 in great proportion adversely affect our rural communities in Ghana. Often with no help from anywhere else, many people suffering will simply stay at home until the situation is dire and often near death. We believe that our calling of making lasting change in rural Ghana includes bringing healthcare to the people who desperately need it. Learn more about the harsh realities of medical issues in the short video below.
To provide accessible, affordable and quality healthcare for our rural clients, we sometimes turn to our donors to help us purchase annual insurance for our clients so that we can serve them with great care and maintain a sustainable business model for the hospital.
We also provide deeply discounted services for our clients all the way from medicine to surgical procedures.
Now, residents of Ateiku and the surrounding areas have access to adequate healthcare and healthcare professionals who are equipped to deliver quality care and share spiritual nurturing as well.
The Hospital provides services as follows but is not limited to these:
The Lord has been using the facility to save lives since the doors were opened. We believe we are making a difference in our community and we want to strive to help more people. See our impact below.
Delivered 3,265 babies
Conducted 1,065 surgeries
Cared for over 290,000 clients
Average Life expectancy has increased by 5 years in our community
There are fifty-two communities in the Ateiku area, which have no access to healthcare of any kind. ACM wants to continue to bring healthcare to those communities. The needs are still great. We invite you to discover the ways you or your mission group can make a difference in the lives of many people in need of medical care. Partner with ACM to bring hope and healing to rural Ghana.
